Kayaking to Kealakekua Bay Closed

The kayaking activity to the Captain Cook Monument has  been closed by the State Department of Land and Resouces. The amount of pressure on the reef was given as the reason. Now there are two ways to snorkel this reef. You can take an excursion , like the Fairwinds Catamaran, or hike the Kaawaloa Trail which leads to the Monument. Areca Palms Estate B&B is the closest B&B top the trailhead and most of our guests walk to the trailhead from here. We will gladly give you clear directions to the trailhead and hints about hiking the trail.
